Class Description

Ashtanga, Strength Training Ashtanga, Ashtanga Intro and Power Yoga
This is a dynamic strengthening practice which utilizes breath and flow of movement to relax and open the body, mind and spirit. The flow creates strength, flexibility and grace. The primary series of Ashtanga is a yoga therapy, a healing process that cleanses and tones the body, mind and senses.

Gentle Flow Yoga, Yoga for 50+
Yoga is for every body, even those that have been sidelined by Life situations (too much work, children, husbands) for too long. Yoga is probably the ultimate anti-stress technique; it helps lower your blood pressure and heart rate. A simple gentle Yoga session will increase serotonin and dopamine, the hormones that the body releases when relaxed. When we are in a good mood the brain produces endorphins and Yoga stimulates this mood. These benefits occur whether you focus on a single pose or move gently through a full class. Breathing properly, good posture and meditation are the key facets of any Yoga practice and will leave your mind and body relaxed and full of energy.

Hatha Yoga, Yoga and Beginner Yoga
Fundamentals of pranayama (breathwork) and asanas (postures) taught from the foundational hatha perspective, and influenced by the Tenth Ox teacher`s own particular energy and style. Classes are tailored for beginner through intermediate and advanced levels.

Kripalu Yoga
Kripalu Yoga encourages the practice of compassionate self-acceptance while offering creative yoga postures for all levels of practitioners. Developing witness consciousness while learning deeper breathing frees up the mind to be more peaceful.
The first stage of practice emphasizes postural alignments and coordination of breath and movement, bringing the mind fully present to the body and to sensations through classical hatha yoga asanas. In the second stage, the inner experience is deepened through meditation and the holding of postures for prolonged periods. This develops concentration, muscle strength and helps to release tension. The heart opens, creating an increased capacity for learning and growth. During the third stage, also known as meditation in motion, both the body and mind are deeply relaxed and the body is invited to move spontaneously from one posture to another in direct response to the inner urges and prompting of prana, the life force.

Restorative Yoga, Beginner Restorative Yoga                                                                                                back to top
This is a gentle, therapeutic style of yoga that uses props to support the body to deepen the benefits of the poses. It is a soothing and nurturing practice that promotes the effects of conscious relaxation.

Stillpoint Flow
This is a dynamic strengthening practice which utilizes breath and flow of movement to relax and open the body, mind and spirit, and combines pranayama (breathwork), asanas (postures) and chanting in a unique way. As developed and taught in the Still Point Teacher Training program by Glenn Mifsud.

Meditation
A practice of stilling the mind and creating more space mentally, emotionally and spiritually. With regular practice, meditation tends to cultivate a greater sense of ease and peace.

Lauren
"Yoga is the perfect opportunity to be curious about who we are" - Jason Crandell

In 2004 Lauren became a certified Hatha Vinyasa yoga teacher through Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio in Halifax NS with Mike and Maxine Munroe.
